Microneedling with PRP
A perfect complement to Fotona Laser procedures, microneedling has emerged as one of our most popular skin rejuvenation and aging prevention treatment. Microneedling is a quick procedure with minimal downtime that allows for significant enhancement in:
|dark circles beneath the eyes||skin texture|
|loose skin||stretch marks (after weight loss)|
|numerous skin imperfections.|
Platelet Rich Plasma is a blood-derived solution that is injected into the treatment area based upon the premise that the Platelets in your blood contain the growth factors critical for healing through tissue regeneration and new blood flow to the treatment area (neovascularization). The injection is prepared by drawing blood from the patient and then spinning the fluid twice in a centrifuge. The two stages of centrifugation are designed to separate PRP from platelet-poor plasma and red blood cells, thereby, yielding a high concentration of these growth factors. This high concentration of growth factors found within PRP is the basis for the use of PRP in tissue repair as it is your body’s own Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) that is used to add a concentrated mix of bioactive growth factors to the treatment area.
Once the PRP is harvested, the skin procedure involves the use of an FDA-cleared “pen”, a device that contains multiple tiny, sterile needles. The device is designed to puncture the skin and creating trauma to trigger the body’s own healing properties. The physical trauma that results prompts the deeper layers of skin (derma) to rebuild by generating new collagen and skin tissue. As the body creates skin tissue in the treated area, the resulting skin tissue is generally smoother, firmer, and more toned. Because the trauma creates a deeper and fertile treatment area where the Platelet Rich Plasma is injected as it is an optimal time to deposit these bioactive growth factors. This greatly enhances the treatment of several skin conditions including acne scarring. Results from PRP Treatments can take weeks to months and vary from patient to patient. PRP is a Pro-Inflammatory procedure as it induces a healthy inflammation, thus, allowing the body’s own immune system to heal itself. The expected results are a substantial increase in blood flow and tissue regeneration coupled with collagen-boosting to the treated area which will aid in tissue repair.
What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
- Boosts collagen production – While we age, we lose our abundant supply of collagen, the body’s age-reversing protein and a compound that helps retain moisture and ensure a smooth, radiant complexion. Microneedling triggers our natural wound-healing response mechanism, allowing for an increase in collagen and resulting in fresher, more youthful-looking skin.
- Improves facial scarring – Acne scars especially responsive to microneedling. Clinical Research Trials have demonstrated that subjects undergoing microneedling procedure found a significant reduction in the severity of their scars with no corresponding adverse effects from the treatment.
- Accelerates the absorption of topical serums – Because Microneedling helps to decrease the sizes of the pores, it allows the skin to retain more moisture. After a microneedling session, the skin may become more accepting and susceptible to serums, nutrients, antioxidants, and vitamins. These topical therapies have a highly beneficial impact on the skin’s ability to fight off free radical damage from the environment, stress, and aging.
- Reduction in wrinkles and fine lines – Wrinkled, sagging skin can be invigorated by using microneedling. Fine lines, creases, and folds can also be gradually reversed.
Because this is a rejuvenating procedure, multiple treatments are recommended and may be required to see optimal results, however, microneedling is more cost-effective than most laser and light treatments. Our clients have been thrilled with the way that microneedling rejuvenates the appearance, improving quality of life and wellbeing.
