Metabolic Approach to Cancer

Energy and Growth (Random chromosomal mutations are secondary)

The earliest cases of Cancer in human beings can be traced back over 1.6 million years. Historical writings have been found dating as far back as 3000 B.C., yet, thousands of years later, the very word conjures a devastating and indomitable predatory force. Since the late 19th Century and throughout the 20th Century, Cancer has remained in the top three killers and, without par, the single most terrifying diagnosis to be learned. Over the 20th century and into the early years of the 21st, Physicians have maintained a Conventional Approach to the treatment of Cancer.

Because of evidence suggesting that Cancer and genetic abnormalities are linked, the Conventional approach to Cancer has focused on treatments like Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and, more recently, gene therapy. Known as the Somatic Mutation Theory (SMT), this approach asserts that your body’s DNA is damaged and, as a result, cells become cancerous.  Although a simplistic explanation of the SMT, the approach has been the Standard of Care with Cancer since the first radiation treatments in the earliest part of the last century. This approach has certainly had some significant positive outcomes for millions in the battle against this devastating disease. However, newer insights from cancer research have altered the focus from treating the symptoms to treating the cause.

The Metabolic Approach to Cancer suggests that damaged DNA is a secondary effect of the Cancer and not a causative factor. In fact, the Metabolic Approach indicates that Inflammation is at the heart of all disease and our modern “Western diet” is to blame.

The Western Diet is rich in Sugar (Glucose/Fructose); Carbohydrates and Polyunsaturated Seed oils. Sugar (50% of Glucose), refined carbohydrates and polyunsaturated oils and have been demonstrated to be major contributors to most of our most deadly modern conditions including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, cancer and a myriad of other conditions. The combination of these three dietary hand grenades creates an inflammatory process that permeates every cell and blood vessel leaving every part of the body in an inflamed state and vulnerable to other damage.

The conversion of our refined carbohydrate in the form of bread, rice and pasta in our diet is converted into Fructose, a phenomenon that had previously been unrecognized. This triggers the body’s own immune system to react by creating inflammation to fight the imbalance. Ultimately, this inflammation becomes chronic because the body begins to wage a war against itself. That chronic inflammation creates a vulnerability that results in progressive organ disease and ultimate failure where the inflammation within the body signifies your body is waging war against its own tissues, organs, and systems. So, what are the sources of this? Look to the Western Diet and you will find the three more culpable sources of disease: Glucose, refined carbohydrates (found in refined grains, pasta, and flours) and Polyunsaturated Seed oils. Glucose is at the heart of this as it is used, in normal levels and systems, to generate energy for the cells. However, in heightened levels, it creates mitochondrial imbalance triggering the immune system response (inflammation).

Glucose is also the main energy source for Cancer cells. They hoard Glucose for its 50% Fructose content and Cancer cells are fed by Glucose, Protein, Fatty Acids, Phosphate, and Acetate. They function differently from normal cells in that, rather than use Glucose to create energy, they use it to create building blocks to create more cancer cells and increasing the possibility for metastasis. All cells need ATP (Adenosine triphosphate + building blocks) – normal cells convert Glucose into ATP, not maintenance. However, Cancer diverts Glucose away from ATP production to the building clocks to create more Cancer – It requires glucose as its energy sources and hoards it in massive amounts. It needs the other building blocks which it steals from other surrounding cells by invading them (metastasis).

High carbohydrates found in refined grains, pasta, and flours; convert to fat and  First you must agree with the premise that there are three main culprits at the heart of most disease: Inflammation is caused by the current excessive consumption of the combination of Fructose, refined Carbohydrate, and Polyunsaturated oils. The consumption of Sugar and Polyunsaturated Seed Oil creates a perfect storm for the creation of inflammation throughout every system in the body. Refined carbohydrates like bread, white rice and pasta only add fuel to this storm by aggravated an already untenable situation.

This has all resulted in increases in diagnoses of cancer now affecting almost 50 percent of the American population. Conventional treatment continues to rely on chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation to attack cancer cells. However, research has shown us that 95 percent of cancer cases are directly linked to diet and lifestyle.

Rather than creating a Perfect Storm for Inflammation, Lifestyle by Dr. Deepti focuses on creating a sustainable low glycemic, low carb anti-inflammatory Lifestyle Protocol. Our Detox Protocol is the first step in immediately removing the most severe harmful nutritional concerns and cleansing the system. The next step focuses on reducing elevated blood glucose; decreasing instances of insulin spikes; and eliminating insulin growth factor 1 spikes. There is substantial empirical evidence that this Lifestyle Protocol can show significant benefits while signaling bad news for cancer cells. Because we want this to be a Lifestyle change and not a diet, this has to be a sustainable approach and you will not be alone in this journey. With our Team, we will teach you the ways in which you can most effectively take this first step toward a better healthier YOU.
