Laser Hair Removal
How does Laser Hair Reduction work?
One of our most requested procedures, our Laser Hair Reduction treatments can stop unwanted hair growth at the base of the follicle by concentrating a beam of light that passes safely through the skin. The laser pulses are calibrated specifically for the energy to be safely absorbed by color pigment in the hair follicle and converted into heat, deactivating the follicle and inhibiting its capacity for regrowth. Our advanced laser technology is equipped with a pre-cooling agent to provide the tissue protection and most comfort throughout your treatment.
There are three stages in the hair growth cycle but the first and most important for laser hair reduction is the Anagen (active) stage where the follicle pigmentation is darkest and absorbs the greatest amount of energy is absorbed. Studying the body’s variances in hair growth cycles, multiple treatments may be necessary to disable the remaining follicles. Treatments are usually spaced out between four to six weeks, depending on age, metabolism and other factors which influence hair growth.
What should I expect from a Laser Hair Reduction treatment?
Patients should expect that following a treatment protocol will typically result in long-term hair reduction. Depending on which part of the body is treated and the extent of the hair follicles, three to six treatments may be needed. These treatments are set at these intervals because it will be more ideal scenario to capture the follicles at different stages of growth. Avoiding the sun before and after your treatment and applying the provided soothing lotions is strongly recommended. While patients may experience mild discomfort, there should be no recovery period expected with laser hair reduction procedures.
